MORE ABOUT Who WE AreOur members are 30+ years of age with an index of up to 20.0 and include some of the best amateur women players in the province, if not the country. Our notable members have included Ada Mackenzie, Elizabeth Hunter, Marlene Stewart Streit, Kay Helleur, Daintry Snyder, and Gayle Borthwick. Today national and international amateur competitors such as Judith Kyrinis and Marion Reid are WIGs who are successfully contending at the highest levels. WIG Member names are engraved on major amateur trophies in Canada and the US, notably for the Canadian Women’s Amateur, Mid-Amateur, and Senior Women’s Amateur Championships, and the US Senior Women’s Amateur Championship, as well as provincial and regional championships. Several are proudly enshrined in the Canadian and Ontario Golf Halls of Fame. |
Our purpose? To promote quality golf and sportsmanship and enjoy the camaraderie of women from other Ontario clubs. Women from all walks have had their golfing lives richly enhanced by competitive events designed to both test their skills and broaden their friendships within the golfing sorority. Whether they are national champions or among the golf achievers in their respective clubs, the women of WIG find common ground on the links.
With WIG’s annual membership, golfers enjoy two key events per year. They are generally held in June and August at private clubs in Ontario who have historical distinction, have hosted significant events in the past, or simply offer a memorable golfing experience. Following play, a reception, dinner, and awards wrap up the day.
